Paralegal Vacancies

Pinsent Masons offers fixed term contracts, usually of either 6 or 12 months, plus some permanent positions for paralegals in our Practice Groups across our offices in the UK. We welcome applications from graduates looking to gain significant legal and commercial work experience before commencing a training contract as well as from more experienced paralegals.

  • What do Paralegals do?

The definition of a paralegal has broadened in recent years and is now loosely used to describe any type of fee earner who is not a qualified solicitor, trainee solicitor or legal executive. Paralegals at Pinsent Masons are extremely valued members of our workforce and our roles frequently involve similar tasks to those undertaken by trainee solicitors and responsibility for running files, under appropriate supervision.

  • Why become a paralegal with Pinsent Masons?

You will be involved in high quality work for a top tier firm, which will be a fantastic addition to your CV, whatever stage you are at in your career. If you are just starting out in the legal arena, the experience of working as a paralegal can help you determine whether a long-term career in law is right for you.

In accordance with our values, we are committed to the development and training of our Paralegals. With support from the Pinsent Masons Academy, our Paralegal roles enable you to master the legal skills you require in order to achieve your goals.

  • Salary & Benefits

This is dependent upon location and level of experience. As a general rule of thumb, our starting salaries for Paralegals are £25,000 in London and £18,000‑£19,000 in the regions and Scotland, and £15,000-£16,000 in Northern Ireland.

The firm also offers the sort of comprehensive benefits package you would expect from a leading employer.

  • Will working as a Paralegal help me gain a Training Contract?

The experience of working in a law firm will help you develop many of the skills required in order to become a trainee solicitor. This will help improve your chances of securing a training contract, provided you meet all the other relevant selection criteria.

At Pinsent Masons, you will not be precluded from applying for one of our training contract positions if you secure one of our paralegal positions. However, this should not be viewed as a shortcut to a training contract. All paralegals are required to apply for a training contract in the usual way, go through our full training contract application process and are considered solely on merit alongside other external applicants.
