‘Jewel in The Crown’
How frequently can you boast that your offices were designed by the architect responsible for parts of the International Space Station, built on the site of an old East End pub, has a pop-up cinema on its ground floor and was inspired by the image of two elephants standing side by side?!
If the answer is ‘frequently’ – then you are almost certainly one of Pinsent Masons’ London based employees!
Today, London is a patchwork of building sites, sweeping from the Olympic site in the north east, to Vauxhall and beyond in the south west. In a business market that is becoming more and more competitive, banks and law firms alike are jostling to position themselves in the most desirable locations popping up across the city, to astound clients with their office views and high end hospitality.
Completed in 2009 and inhabited from 2010, 30 Crown Place is Pinsent Masons’ ‘jewel-in-the-crown’ international headquarters in Central London. Designed in a brilliant turquoise blue and with sweeping curves, it certainly is a talking point for clients (particularly those in the construction sector!), seminar attendees and our green-with-envy competitors attending for negotiations and meetings.
Due to the nuances of borough boundaries, a stroll from Moorgate Underground to Crown Place (only a 5 minute walk) sees you pass through Islington, the City of London, Hackney and Tower Hamlets – quite the adventure for a Monday morning. Crown Place is perfectly placed next to Liverpool Street and Moorgate stations, providing links throughout London, and, once Crossrail is complete, direct train links to Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports – perfect for our of international clients wishing to pop into our offices for the day.
Whilst being an excellent advert for Pinsent Masons, the building is also ideally tailored to suit the needs of the 600 plus lawyers and support staff working within its walls. The seventh floor is entirely devoted to our ‘Hub’ – a café (incredible brownies), restaurant (complete with a MasterChef-starring head chef, no less!), roof terrace for some summer sun, and a tapas bar for early afternoon snacks. Away from our nourishment needs, Crown Place provides exercise suites for the regular yoga and pilates classes, a doctor’s surgery for our weekly doctor in attendance and a contemplation suite for anyone looking for a moment of calm.
It’s rare to find a group of employees rave about their offices as much as the Pinsent Masons’ staff – after all it is important to feel comfortable and content in a building in which you will inevitably spend a significant proportion of your week. Come along to one of our open days throughout the summer, and see it for yourself!
